Monday is not just about #MotivationMonday quotes, that’s why we are always looking for new opportunities to feel creative and get inspired. Today we are introducing Donghyun Lim, an illustrator from Seoul that expresses himself through his colourful illustrations.
We were impressed by his creative ‘Eat Share Love’ project for the application, Light-Up, but also from his combination of illustration and typography for the creation of his own alphabet, with each letter having a visual representation for it.
What’s more, here’s what we learned about him and his work:
When did you start as an illustrator?
I have worked as a freelance illustrator since 2013.
I am mainly focusing on editorial illustration and I think my style is characterized by soft and clean color palette and concise form.
How are you inspired for your next project?
I usually think deeply on attribute of things and take notes about visual ideas of it. It is indeed helpful for each project.
How do you define creativity?
I think creativity is proof of attention. I think that it’s important to have variety points of view. And I really try to do that, too.
What’s your favourite project up to now?
I particularly like the Illustration for Variety Magazine.
However I hope this changes soon. I will try to work to create better than that.
Donghyun has worked with Variety Magazine, The Washington Post Express, Computer Arts UK, Monocle Magazine and many others and you can have a look at his portfolio on his Tumblr site and his Behance profile.
