It’s time to dust off those winter cobwebs and banish them until November, as spring is well and truly here.
Here at thortful, we’re approaching our spring clean with a different attitude this year. We’ll still be relegating all our winter clothing, bedding and homewear, but this season we’re focusing on our mindset.
We understand that life can get hectic, so we thought it was about time we took stock of our own happiness and organise our lives with the change in season. Here’s to less-stress, more freedom and ultimately, positivite thinking this spring!
Organise that diary
It may seem like a simple thing to do, but organising your diary will make you feel less stressed and more on top of things.
We’ve all committed to plans without stopping to check whether we’re actually free or we just forget to add it to our diaries. When the day of said plan rolls around, we’re either anxious because we’ve double-booked and have to let somebody down, or we completely forget and have to make our apologies (say sorry here!).
Having all your life admin in check is a great way to feel in control and content, so set aside some time each day to map out what you’ll be doing. It may even be a case of clearing your schedule and only having one event on, if you fancy a low-key week.
It’s amazing what a bit of exercise can do for the brain. All those endorphins released from physical activity can drastically improve your mood and outlook.
You don’t have to be a gym bunny to reap the benefits post-exercise. It could be something as simple and easy as going for a walk, or 10-minutes of yoga in the morning – a little is better than nothing and will make you feel more energetic as you progress.
Meditation has become increasingly popular over the past couple of years, to the point where companies now encourage employees to take time out of their days to meditate for ten minutes!
It’s not all chanting though. Apps such as Headspace and Calm specifically give you 5-10 minutes of exercises to complete, so you can be alone with your thoughts and process your feelings and sensations.
It might be a bit tricky at first to settle into, but once you practice enough, you’ll find that you crave those few minutes of time to yourself each day to gather your headspace.
Gulp up that fresh air
This is an oldie, but a goodie. There is nothing better than getting outside in the fresh air to clear and reset the mind. Even if it’s not sunny (although bonus if it is!), pop on those wellies or trainers and hike/jog/run it out.
If you live in a city, find your nearest local park and go explore, and if you live in the suburbs or countryside, you have a number of rolling hills and expansive woods to wander about. You’ll find a healthy dose of clean air can work wonders!
And if you manage all that then we’re seriously impressed! Cheers to you!
