“An Illustrator’s Lunch” by Aleesha Nandhra

'An Illustrator's Lunch' by Aleesha Nandhra

It’s lunch time and just when we were wondering what to eat, we came across the work of Aleesha Nandhra and her creative take on “An Illustrator’s Lunch.” As it seems, illustrators may be inspired from anything, beating their creative hunger in the most unique ways!

How did you come up with the idea of this illustration?

This illustration just started off as a doodle of some pencils inside a food tin and I just
progressed from there. I knew that it would be a strong visual idea and I had to go through with it and make it! I can’t recall exactly what the thought process behind the initial idea was, but I was most likely thinking about food! That, or I did what most people that have a cup of painty/inky water on their desk do, and take a sip from that instead of my drink….

What are the challenges of being an illustrator?

For me personally, I would say that one of the challenges of being an illustrator is not having enough hours in the day! But there isn’t anything else I would like to do, so with any challenges that come with being an illustrator, I just look at byproducts of doing what I love for a living.

What else does an illustrator’s lunch include?

Apart from a good accidental glug of painty water instead of my drink, my lunch options vary. Sometimes it’s a salad, wrap, or if I’m super lucky, some leftover curry and rice that my Mum has made 🙂 Yum! I’m also a bit of a fruit monster so there is usually some knocking around, too.
